Footnotes
UNCLE DODO was in the fray early on outside going three deep, started to creep closer three wide on the bend in midturn, loomed a menacing presence outside in the five path in upper stretch, did not switch leads through the lane while still charging outside, fought neck and neck with a sixteenth from the prize and was hand ridden out in the final seventy yards due to the fact the rider lost his crop in the ensuing battle in deep stretch and surged in the shadow of the wire to inch away for the win at the finish line. TITAN READY dueled on the rail down the backstretch, edged clear on the fence along the bend at the quarter pole, scraped paint just holding on from two outside rivals bearing down straightening out for home, found more spurting away again briefly switching leads at the furlong pole, gamely dug in going head to head in the final seventy yards inside but could not fend off the winner in the last couple of jumps. KLASSEN had the rail keeping a close eye on the engaged trio, was nestled on the fence behind the pacesetter waiting for the cue to move around the oval, split foes coming to the leader at the quarter pole to be in the thick of it all three wide between horses turning for home, fought on with rivals on either side down the stretch but conceded arguing up top by the sixteenth pole and holding well enough for the show money at the wire. MERCKX had a stalking role outside ahead of the only the poor starter down the backstretch, rallied three furlongs out saving all the ground through the turn, shifted out four wide at the quarter pole coming on passing another, moved inside slightly to the three path in upper stretch and had good late energy to be a fringe player in the end. UNCLE KEF sat all alone in the middle of the pack at the half, picked up an inside foe between runners at the three-furlong pole, made no progression around the turn, shifted to the three path in upper stretch but could not be a factor in the late running. FROST ROCKET missed the break spotting the field while nudged on down the backstretch, travelled three wide still at the rear while under right-handed encouragement at the three furlong pole outside rivals offering little response making no progression around the bend, shifted to the three path at the head of the lane but could only manage to pass a weary inside rival in mid-stretch. HESATROOPER was off a step slow to begin, then quickly moved up vying between rivals under a hustling ride by the five eighths pole, chased the frontrunner outside through the turn, had little left running out of gas backing away abruptly with horses on both sides by the quarter pole, emptied out turning for home and was wrapped up at the furlong pole cantering across the finish line.
