LUSTER travelled three wide tracking the pace, rated kindly measuring the frontrunner down the backstretch on the outside, sauntered to the lead between horses with three furlongs remaining, was unfazed with the rider statuesque in the saddle when company was trying to bear down outside at the quarter pole, opened up at will with just a wave of the right handed crop in upper stretch and won under a hand ride being geared down in the final seventy yards for the authoritative win. DIXIE LAW had the two path sitting just behind the front three rivals around the first bend, shifted three deep narrowing the margin outside foes at the half, closed in to bid three wide outside the winner into the far turn, battled outside until the quarter pole, could not keep up with the dominant winner who had plenty left for the drive in upper stretch but did fight on stubbornly late to best others at the wire for the runners up share outside. BOLD TIME tracked the pacesetter with runners on both sides in the early going, had inside position in the second flight behind the frontrunner down the back straight, came under a vigorous ride trying to get to the front pair on the far turn but to no avail, skimmed the fence in with a chance for a piece of the prize and settled or a clear third while outkicked by the outside runner in the final sixteenth of a mile for the place award. KATIE'S GRACE broke a step slow settling near the rear between foes early on, co-trailed on the inside down the backstretch at the half, began to lengthen stride when urged on three furlongs from home, passed a weary runner inside at the quarter pole, shifted to the five path at the top of the lane and finished up willingly outside foes in deep stretch to be a fringe player in the end. PIPER'S GIFT was checked in tight on the fence heading into the first turn, stalked down the backside only ahead of a couple of rivals down the backstretch, made a brief rally three wide at the three eighths pole chasing the lead pair on the final bend until the quarter marker, could not sustain the rally by upper stretch and finished up only one paced in the final furlong. RED GUITAR settled close to the back going three wide on the first of two turns, shared the rear outside another along the back straightaway, lagged well behind showing little around the far turn with the field quickening at the three furlong pole but did show some gumption down the lane to catch a straggler in the final furlong. KINZIE GIRL had the two path loose up top around the first bend, remained up front uncontested slowing the tempo down along the backside, was roused at the three-furlong pole inside having no answer when the winner went by outside, backed away abruptly throughout the final turn and was not persevered with cantering home in the final furlong. STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE FIRST TURN IN THE VICINITY OF THE 15/16THS POLE REGARDING #1 PIPERS GIFT AND #2 DIXIE LAW RESULTED IN NO CHANGE
