WAR LEGEND had the rail sitting in midfield, commenced a run on the fence at the five sixteenths slipping inside a runner, shifted outside two wide weaving through horses smartly at the quarter pole coming up to the leader, posed the only threat in the three path turning for home, stormed on by with a sixteenth left to run and won going away at the finish line. SUPER TOM was away slowly well behind the field but on a good note well ahead of the other poor starter down the backside, remained well back of the pack early in the turn running, rallied hugging the rail passing an outside foe at the quarter pole, shifted three wide at the top of the stretch full of run and closed in smartly down the lane, was unable to get to the winner late but determinedly dug in to win the runners up share at the finish wire with a strong late surge. AUNTIE'S BAMBINO had a stalking trip ahead of only the two troubled starters down the backstretch, swooped around horses going five wide on the bend at the quarter pole reaching for more ground, swung out widest in the seven path straightening out for home, kept on fighting outside until the end, could not threaten the winner late and just missed out to the inside foe at the wire in a photo for the place share. STARSHIP SALUTE was away alertly for a short lead into the backstretch, relinquished the top spot briefly to two inside runners by the half mile marker, regained control with three furlongs from home, opened up around the oval, shifted to the two path holding on well enough in upper stretch, gave way up front to the winner with a sixteenth still to run and wilted even further in deep stretch losing a couple of positions late to settle for only a minor role in the end. CLARKSBURG had a good spot on the outside watching the embattled foursome midway down the backside, was scrubbed on four wide in midturn making little headway between foes, angled to the six path in upper stretch but lacked a rally in the late running. FIGHTIN TO SURVIVE veered out sharply on the break spotting the field many lengths down the backside, closed the gap on runners around the bend, shifted out five wide at the top of lane catching up to rivals and managed to come on in the drive passing a few runners in the stretch drive. WILLFUL WARRIOR had the three path between horses part on the early scramble on the front end, was under a busy ride four wide just trying to hold position around the turn at the quarter pole, had little left for the drive to the finish line and tired in the final furlong. SLIGHTLY NAUGHTY was forwardly placed in the conversation up top on the fence, poked its head in front by the half, surrendered the lead by the three eights marker, could not keep up to the leader by midturn under right-handed encouragement, skimmed the fence turning for home and faltered inside foes in the last furlong. DWIGHT had a hustling ride from the onset dueling between runners at the half, was hard ridden retreating just off the fence throughout the turn, emptied out on the rail in upper stretch and cantered on it being wrapped up by the furlong pole.
