SHAK TOWN had a poor start compromised by the assistant starter not being fully ready when the gates opened up and tossing its head in the process as well, recovered smartly to prompt the pace five deep down the backside, cleared off, crossing over loose on the lead by the three eighths pole, rolled along thorough the turn moving smartly on the front end, was well in control on the fence with a furlong to go and held on under a busy ride at the wire. ZIO CAVALLO had a narrow lead with horses on either side at the break, surrendered the front end at the seven sixteenths pole, chased the leader two wide on the turn, posed the only threat just off the rail at the head of the lane, was inching closer in the late going but it wasn't enough to get to the winner at the wire. EXTRAORDINARY ONE (GB) trailed the bunched-up group at the half mile marker, remained at the back seeing the field throughout the turn, angled to the three path finding his best stride late down the lane and closed in sharply in deep stretch to capture the show award all the while not that far off the winner at the finish line too. FINE STYLE had a stalking role four deep outside of runners with the field tightly knitted at the half, offered a mild run two to three wide around horses on the oval, shifted to the five path for the stretch run and finished up gradually in the late going to settle on the fringes in the end. UNBRIDLED WEATHER was part of the early mix between foes in the three path, tracked the pacesetter outside another with three furlongs still to run, kept pace three wide on the turn but was ridden hard to do so, shifted to the two path in mix for a share in upper stretch but faded on the rail in the final seventy yards losing a couple of positions late. IMPULSIVE BID had the rail part of the early scrum, took back being reined in unable to hold inside position at the seven sixteenths pole, saved ground but made little impact around the turn, hugged the rail at the top of the stretch but could not factor in the last eighth of a mile. STEWARD'S INQUIRY AT THE START WAS DEEMED THAT #6 SHAK TOWN DID NOT RECEIVE A FAIR START BUT OVERCAME THE ISSUE WINNING THE RACE STILL AND NO CHANGE WAS REQUIRED
