Footnotes
ITSASTORMYMONDAY stalked in the middle of the pack but going five wide on the first bend, remained in midfield going outside three deep down the backstretch, started to pick up the bit circling rivals three wide at the five sixteenths pole, pounced five wide turning for home getting the jump on the inside leaders in upper stretch, battled outside in the last furlong and edged away for the hard fought stretch win at the wire. KEKOA relaxed on the rail in mid-division in the early stages, crept up on the fence at the three furlong marker, angled out three wide between rivals in the heat of the battle at the top of the lane, never wavered fighting up top with runners on both sides through the drive but was just denied at the wire for the win. SCORCHING prompted the pace in the beginning outside in the six path, seized control angling in shaving the corner on the first turn getting to the rail up top, slowed things down at the half, was nudged along holding on the front end having the rail on the last bend, continued to find more clinging onto the lead with a couple of outside rivals closing in at the furlong marker but gave way grudgingly inside in deep stretch to be a clear third. FIRST EMPIRE had a tracking role on the lead pair three wide on the first bend, settled into a good rhythm watching the engaged duo inside at the half mile marker, edged up between horses two wide midway along the final turn, shifted to the five path well back of the contesting trio in mid-stretch but finished up with intent outside of others to the win the duel for the minors. FIGHTER IN THE WIN argued for the front end in the five path inside another going under the wire for the first time, had to be checked on the fence conceding the lead to the outside foe angling in midway through the initial bend, shifted outside to hound the frontrunner down the backside, took even closer order making a bid by the three eighths pole, had enough fighting up top four wide by upper stretch and evened out late trying to hold for a minor placing but was nabbed in deep stretch. HE'S NOT JOKING travelled between runners in the middle of the pack for the first half of this two-turn event, was urged for more having runners on both sides two wide offering little running around the far turn, shifted to the three path having a chance for a minor role dueling inside a couple of challengers through the stretch drive but could not kick on with others in deep stretch. LEGAL CATCH settled close to the back end, travelled in tandem with an inside at the rear down the backstretch, could see the field around the last turn and could only manage to pick up an inside foe in the late going. IRONSTONE trailed the field on the first turn, shared the rear on the inside at the half mile marker, had little impact taking the shortest route on the far bend, hugged the rail at the top of the lane but had no finish inside horses in the final furlong.
