RED WEAVER was allowed to settle into stride getting to the fence from the outside post trailing the field in the early stages, edged up on the rail avoiding the troubled runners at the three eighths pole, sharply narrowed the margin on the front pair on the turn by the quarter pole, swung outside in the three path looming boldly in upper stretch took control outside by the eighth pole and won comfortably being geared down when crossing the finish line. SIGNATURE SIR pressed the issue inside at the start, took back shifting out at the half mile marker, chased outside through the turn closing in on the pacesetter, vied between horses two wide at the head of the lane fighting for the front end, could not quicken with the outside winner late but dug in at the finish line to get the nod for the place share. BIG BOLD AND FIRST had a slim lead on the outside in the beginning, shook clear getting to the fence midway down the backstretch, rolled along unopposed around the bend, hugged the rail in upper stretch with outside rivals bearing down, offered no answer when the winner powered past at the furlong pole and just missed lasting in a tight photo inside for the runner position at the wire. GLASWEIGIAN had the outside position in tandem with another keeping a close eye on the front two runners along the backside, was carried out by the troubled foes early through the turn losing all chance, recovered somehow getting back into gear on the rail well behind d foes at the quarter pole and showed grit closing in considerably on the lead trio throughout the drive but still settled in the end on the fringes. ELGIN PARK was headstrong inside another on the rail in the second flight behind the lead pair midway down the backside, had broken equipment when the left rein snapped while trying to be checked behind runners at the nine sixteenths pole, bore out on the turn with the jockey unable to steer, unseated the rider in the process and walked off. STEWARDS GENERAL INQUIRY REGARDING #1 ELGIN DOWN THE BACKSTRETCH AND THROUGH THE TURN PARK RESULTED IN NO CHANGE
