Footnotes
ADMIRAL NELSON was hard held alone up top down the backside, shook clear again rationing out the speed by the five sixteenths pole when rivals tried to close in entering the turn, maintained a diminishing advantage in three path by mid-stretch with oncomers closing in on both sides and just had enough left in reserve to hold for the front end score while drifting out crossing the finish line. MONDAY MORNING had a tracking role on the fence behind the leader down the backstretch, was asked for more run saving ground on the turn when the frontrunner opened up at the five sixteenths pole, chased the winner down the stretch, closed determinedly a furlong from home gaining with every stride but just could not get to the winner getting at the wire. DOADSTER travelled between runners in the second flight early down the backstretch, kept pace with rivals going three wide around the oval, shifted out three to the five path by mid-stretch, switched leads at the furlong marker finding another gear and with a good late surge got up very late to capture the show money. CLIVE CROSS was hustled inside for better position entering the backstretch, settled in mid-pack on the rail at the half, took the short way through the turn edging up by the quarter pole, angled out four wide in upper stretch and showed late interest shifting in by the furlong pole to just get up at the wire settling on the fringes in the end. CUT'EM LOOSE tracked the lone speed leader outside at the half, closed the gap going into the turn, was roused to go after the pacesetter with five sixteenths to go, angled four wide in the hunt at the top of the stretch, moved in at the furlong marker, never switched leads stalling with a sixteenth left run and was picked up very late losing a couple of positions at the finish line. A LA CARTE broke out and was taken a hold off to trail the group at the start, stalked near the rear along the backside, could not move forward while roused throughout the turn, shifted out between challengers six wide straightening for home but could not get into contention in the stretch drive. AWE INSPIRED settled between runners in midfield down the back straight, came under a ride three wide outside another making little movement through the turn, angled five wide for the drive to the wire but could not get involved finishing up one paced in the late stages. DIVA'S GHOST was allowed to settle at the rear in the early going, made little impact when scrubbed for more inside rivals around the oval, initially angled out to the six path for the stretch run then decided to shift back inwards two wide by the furlong pole, closed the gap on rivals late but could only catch up to a single runner right at the finish line. BENLION stalked close the the back of the pack outside horses down the backside, could not advance going outside rivals three wide around the bend, shifted out widest in the seven path turning for home but failed to menace outside foes in the stretch running.
