Footnotes
BILL OF ICE travelled on the outside in mid-division on the initial turn, dropped back slightly outside horses at the half, ranged up outside foes from the second flight to loom three wide at the quarter marker, drove past rivals outside at the eighth pole and won going away smartly at the finish line. SOUPER DEBONAIR contested the pace inside the stablemate under the wire for the first time, was taken back through the first turn content tracking the loose leader along the backside, inched up by the half, moved in to bid outside with five sixteenths from home, poked his head in front with a quarter mile remaining, had no answer in the three path when the winner swept past at the furlong marker and finished up besting the rest for the second place share. ERIE SHORES was unhurried on the fence trailing in the early stages, started to mount a run circling foes three wide on the last turn at the quarter pole and ran on mildly in the final furlong unbale to threaten the top two rivals but closed in to capture the show award from the leg weary early leader in the final seventy yards. DEPUTY CURLIN set the pace outside in the beginning, shook loose getting to the rail midway on the first bend, slowed the tempo down while opening up along the back straight, narrowly maintained the lead on the fence while getting a good breather in the third split on the far turn, relinquished the front two furlongs from the prize, fought on inside until the furlong marker and wilted in the last sixteenth of a mile staying on the incorrect lead through the stretch drive. HOT POTATO had the rail position in midfield early on, edged up the inside to track the pacesetter at the half, dropped back saving ground through the last turn to share the rear inside having a quarter mile still to go and finished up inside a runner late to just up for a better placing at the wire. SILENT CODE stalked three wide on the first of two turns near the rear, made little progression along the backside, shifted just off the fence with five sixteenths to run, co-trailed outside another two furlongs from the line and had little to offer between foes in upper stretch.
