H C GAMBLE prompted the pace at the start, smartly took back off the engaged pair having a tracking role with runners on either side at the half mile pole, had the rail in the second flight waiting for the cue to go throughout the bend, was aching for running room skimming the fence turning for home, darted between rivals in the two path finding a seam at the furlong pole quickly taking the lead and held safe at the wire from an oncoming foe late. GOLD DRAGON was unhurried sharing the rear inside another, was urged on coming to the half trying to get inside position before the bend, had to drop back unable to quicken into the turn, started to pick up the bit at the quarter pole, loomed widest in the five path at the top of the lane but was outkicked by the winner in the late going besting the rest for the runners up share instead. MOLLY'S CORNER had a slow start, improved inside rivals through the chute to get a head in front on the fence by the half, continued having a slim lead inside around the oval, shaved the corner still holding on in upper stretch, was asking for the wire clinging up top with a host of outside foes bearing down with a furlong from home but could not fend off rivals late and faded at the sixteenth pole lasting for a clear third at the wire. MR BOND setting in midfield three deep outside a couple of runners, had the second flight outside the eventual winner chasing the contesting twosome around the bend, closed the gap at the quarter pole making a bid shifting out to the four-path turning for home, stalled at the furlong pole fighting for the win but did win the duel of the stablemates outside for a minor award. IRON WEAVE narrowly had the front between runners in the early going, battled on the outside around the bend, shifted to the three path in the mix in upper stretch but had little left for the drive and weakened at the sixteenth pole. ASTRAL broke a step slow, co-trailed on the outside down the backstretch, was roused at the half seeing the field offering little response, lagged well behind the group in the turn running, lost touch at the head of the lane and cantered down the stretch crossing the finish line.
