Footnotes
CHURCH AND STATE had a stalking role near the rear ahead of a couple of foes in the beginning, started to make a smart rally swooping around horses four wide with five sixteenths to go, swung out six wide full of run straightening out for home, picked up runners one by one outside wearing down rivals through the lane and drove on by in the shadow of the wire for the late running win. THUNDERING was pushed out four wide tracking the early leader in the first of two turns, settled in the second flight outside down the back straight, ranged up on the outside midway on the second bend, shifted out four wide looming boldly in upper stretch, battled between foes up top never wavering down the stretch but just could not go with the outside winner nearing the wire to finish up a game second best on this day. CYCLONITE tracked the leader while going four wide heading into the first turn, closed in down the backstretch to shadow the frontrunner at the half, moved in outside looking a threat at the quarter pole, seized command three wide between horses at the top of the lane, battled gamely inside rivals in the final furlong but was slightly outkicked in deep stretch settling for a clear third in the end. BOCA QUEEN (IRE) shifted out travelling three wide on the first turn keeping an eye on the frontrunner, sat alone rating kindly behind the top two pairings down the backside, started to make a move three wide with five sixteenths to go, had a chance in the five path if good enough turning for home could only run on evenly in the final furlong to settle for a minor role in the end. WAGSTAFF had an outside position in the middle of the pack, kept coming on in the two path between foes around the far bend, had a chance inside runners for a piece of the prize in upper stretch but faded slightly in the final sixteenth losing the battle for a minor share in deep stretch. HERE I GO was in the conversation having the rail up top going into the first turn, dropped back to sit in mid-pack on the fence along the backside, ran on evenly saving ground through the last bend, shifted out three wide for the stretch run but was one paced and could not get involved in the late running. FORTY N FIVE was in touch with the group up top just off the rail, bobbled slightly for a stride or two in the two path between runners heading into the first turn, drafted just behind the frontrunner along the backside, was scrubbed for more on the rail but could not cut into the lead of the top duo on the far turn, stayed inside scraping paint with a shot for a share at the top of the lane but lacked a rally inside rivals in the final furlong. AUTOBAHN ACE stalked near the back on the first turn, made little improvement along the backside, shifted out just off the fence midway on the far turn trying to make a rally, swung out widest in the eight path driving to the wire but could not get into contention in the late running. SPECIAL SESSION co-trailed on the inside in the early going, made little progression on the fence along the backside, could see the field saving ground on the last turn and could only manage to pass tired runners inside in deep stretch. GARDEN OF WAR was hustled from the outside angling in to take this field on the fence into the first turn, narrowly maintained the advantage outside down the back straight, was collared outside by a rival at the quarter pole, offered little resistance surrendering the lead in upper stretch, could not continue on through the lane and folded on the rail in the last sixteenth of a mile. HAMMERHEAD broke a step slow to co-trail on the outside in the early parts of the running, made little headway on the far turn just off the rail when asked for more at the five sixteenths pole, was checked losing its path three wide leaving the furlong marker and could not factor afterwards.
