Footnotes
MISTER HOLDEN prompted the pace under a snug hold three deep in the early going, moved in three wide around runners on the turn, posed the main opposition in the three path straightening out for the drive and relentlessly wore down the frontrunner in the shadow of the wire for the win. HEY CUE was in hand up top marginally inside down the backside, edged away on the rail from the early speed rival by midturn, still was in command but by a diminishing advantage in upper stretch and could not find enough in reserve late to fend off the winner outside in deep stretch. BREAK THE SPELL was unhurried on the rail trailing the field down the backside, made a smart circling move around foes going three to four wide on the bend, shifted out to the five path still coming on in upper stretch, could not threaten the top pair who were in a match to themselves in deep stretch but finish up a clear third with that solid effort. THREE SONNY SIDEUP stalked close to the back of the pack on the outside down the back straight, began to pick up the running in midturn just off the fence, shifted three wide for the stretch drive and ran on willingly winning minor duel late to be a fringe player at the wire. LOBBY BAR travelled near the rear on the inside, inched up on the rail at the five sixteenths pole, was looking for room in the two path behind rivals in upper stretch and finished up evenly inside another losing the duel for a minor share in the end. HIGHLAND SOCIETY had a good spot all alone on the fence rating kindly watching the engaged threesome down the back straight, was urged trying to hold position on the rail through the turn, and lacked a rally on the fence in the last eighth of a mile. WINSTON BLUE settled on the outside in midfield, was under encouragement in the three path but was going in the wrong direction midway around the bend, shifted out to the five path for the drive but had little to give outside in the late running. YORKVILLE broke sharp having the lead in the beginning, vied between foes for the front down the backside, chased the leader on the far turn but gave way up top by the quarter pole while under a ride, had nothing left to offer turning for home and yielded two wide in upper stretch.
