Footnotes
PET SOUNDS travelled three wide outside keeping a close eye on the front pair in the early going, was nudged along in the second flight outside keeping a close eye on the lead duo at the half, mounted a rally three wide with five sixteenths to go, was in full flight four wide outside rivals in upper stretch, powered past for the lead with a furlong from the finish and drew off with authority in deep stretch for the win. GUARD OF HONOUR narrowly had the advantage inside in the two path on the first turn, continued to be hounded outside up front down the backstretch, edged away from the early speed rival by the quarter pole, could not find more two wide in upper stretch unable to fend off the charge by the winner outside at the furlong marker but did stubbornly dig back in late to save for the place share in the end. MONDAY MORNING was taken back between foes in the mix up top going into the first to sit in the second tier inside watching the embattled pair by the half, moved in closer to draft behind the leader on the rail midway on the final turn, angled out three wide coming with a rally but was no match for the dominant winner with a furlong remaining and just lost out for the runners up share outside at the wire. DARE TO BE KING was nestled on the rail in mid-division, was roused just keeping pace with the leaders at the three eighths marker, shifted out five wide at the top of the stretch between foes and ran on with some interest down the lane to be a distant fringe player when crossing the finish line. QUANDALE pressed the pace outside in the early stages, was asked for more run midway on the last turn but gave way up top by the quarter pole, was in tight losing his path three wide at the top of the lane and could only finish up one paced unable to hold for a minor role in deep stretch. PERFECT PLAY stalked ahead of only one runner in the beginning, could not advance on rivals along the back straight, made little impression just off the rail throughout the last turn, swung out widest in the six path for the drive home but could not factor outside foes in the late running. BLUE MONTJEU was unhurried at the rear in the beginning, could still see the field along the backside, began to lengthen stride closing the gap on the fence in the far turn by the five sixteenths pole, scraped paint turning for home but lacked a rally inside foes in the stretch running.
