Footnotes
CRUMLIN LAD tracked on the outside of another down the back straight, closed in to force the issue outside at the three eighths marker, poked his head in front seizing control a quarter mile from home, was challenged outside in upper stretch in the three path and tenaciously prevailed showing a game effort inside runners just holding on at the wire. LAST AMERICAN EXIT had the rail in mid-division in the beginning, made a savvy move gaining better inside position pulling the rider up to draft behind the pacesetter by the half, edged up on the turn waiting for the cue to move, shifted out at the quarter pole to be five wide straightening out for home and was gaining steadily on the lead pair in the final furlong but just missed getting there in time. INDIAN PEAK was void of early foot lagging behind at the start, made a sharp move swooping around horses four wide at the three furlong pole, continued to move forward bidding for the lead outside at the quarter pole, loomed menacingly between in the four path turning for home and stubbornly never wavered with challengers on either side in the drive but was on the wrong end of a tight three way scramble for the win at the finish line. WALTER ME LAD had the inside position watching the frontrunner, watched the embattled duo between foes in the two path at the three furlong pole, dropped back with a quarter mile to run, moved out four wide at the top of the stretch and resurged in deep stretch to be a fringe player in the end. BLAZING BO stalked on the inside down the backstretch, began to lengthen stride inching up taking the short way around by midturn, angled out in the three path exiting the turn and finished with intent in the late running. ECHO WITH LAUGHTER was hustled to stay interest at the rear by the half, made a brief move passing foes three wide on the outside midway on the bend, swung out widest in the seven path at the top of the lane but lacked a rally outside rivals in the stretch drive. AWESOME CRUSADER travelled three deep in midfield, ran evenly in the three path keeping pace between horses under encouragement through the bend and had nothing to offer wilting in the five path when straightening out for the drive. EL ALACRAN had runners on each side sitting in the middle of the pack, regressed between foes to trail the field with five sixteenths to go and could only pick up the leg weary early leader outside in the final furlong. CADFAEL shot clear on the rail in the early going, dueled on the fence going head-to-head inside around the bend, surrendered up top by the quarter pole and had nothing left for the drive yielded to others by the furlong marker.
