Footnotes
FORESTER'S FORTUNE was forwardly placed inside tracking the early duo, inched up still under a hold two wide at the quarter pole, shifted out finding a clear lane three wide in upper stretch making his presence felt up top and found another gear in the final furlong pulling away for the win in deep stretch. PINE KNOLL was tapped on the right shoulder getting early run leaving the gate having a slim lead on the outside, conceded the top spot to an inside rival who was also intent on getting to the lead by the half, re-engaged two wide outside throwing it down under a rapid pace going nose to nose in midturn, had the three path between runners slugging it out four across at the eighth pole on the front end, could not keep up to the winner who had more due to a nice tracking trip inside but tenaciously still fought on holding between horses in a blanket finish for the runners up share. NAPA SPIRIT (IRE) was scrubbed on for more inside right from the get-go finally getting a head in front at the half mile marker, battled on the rail throwing it down under dear a brisk tempo midway around the bend, skimmed the fence taking the final corner clinging onto the lead inside three others with it being anyone s race at the eighth pole, gave way to the winner by the sixteenth pole but still fought on gamely inside just missing the place share while just holding for the show money in a thrilling finish. LAZIO was on the outside of the eventual winner keeping a close eye on the embattled front pair, closed in three wide being asked for run at the quarter pole, angled to the four path outside three others fighting for the lead in upper stretch, kept digging in at the furlong pole but needed just a little bit more late being on the wrong end of a three way blanket finish for second, third and fourth money. RAPID GREY had the rail position being at the rear with two outside rivals, took the shortest way around the turn but could not make any progression on the lead group, continued a rail skimming trip at the top of the stretch but could not get into contention down the lane. ROI SOLEIL was part of the back trio having horses on either side, travelled two wide outside another unable to close the gap in the turn running, angled three wide at the head of the lane but could not get involved in the drive to the finish line. VAMOS VIEJO had little early foot outside runners near the rear in the four oath, travelled three wide around the oval having little to offer when dropping back to last outside at the quarter pole, shifted out widest to the six path turning for home but could not catch up to any rivals through the stretch drive.
