Footnotes
NO FRILLS was nestled on the rail drafting behinds the frontrunner heading into the first of two turns, shifted outside two wide outside at the three quarters marker, hounded the leader outside down the backstretch while quite relaxed, moved in when nudged along getting a head in front by the five sixteenths pole, maintained a slim lead in the three path at the head of the lane and smartly drew off when asked for more in the final furlong. LITA MARIE had the lead on the fence in the beginning, continued to dictate a moderate pace having a slim advantage inside down the backstretch, was collared outside by the winner at the five sixteenths pole, tried to counter briefly inside two wide when urged for more with a right handed crop at the top of the lane but could not match strides with the winner in the final eighth of a mile easily besting the rest at the wire still for the runners up position. REALLY BIG SHOW was at the back of the pack going three wide on the first bend, edged up slightly improving inside passing the stablemate at the half, had to be throttled down two wide stuck behind horses losing momentum briefly at the midpoint of the far turn, had a clear run three wide splitting foes coming with a good turn of foot turning for home and closed in belatedly for the show money but a distant third with the field strung out crossing the finish line. LOTTA GEMS was bumped out by the inside runner going three wide on the initial turn while near the rear of the pack, offered little movement between horses along the back straight, started to come with a run three wide passing two inside rivals at the five sixteenths pole, angled to the five path in upper stretch but could only run on evenly giving way for the show award at the furlong pole to an inside rival and settled on the fringes in the end. C C ATHENA travelled on the inside in the second flight for the first half of this two-turn event, was scrubbed on for more on the fence at the five sixteenths pole but the top two runners were opening up further ahead through the final turn and could not offer a rally through the lane. HURRICANE AMELIA leapt up at the start, recovered to track the lead pair outside another in the early going, made little progression outside down the backstretch, was asked for more two wide midway around the last bend between rivals offering little run, shifted to the three path at the top of the stretch but faded in the late running. DON'T SAY A WORD was off a step slow, was getting out having trouble negotiating the first turn bumping an outside foe being checked between horses, was relegated to last by the half, lagged well behind around the final bend and could not factor in the stretch drive.
