Footnotes
WILLIAM T had a nice set-up tucked in on the rail sitting just back off the pacesetter throughout, started to come with a rail rally at the five sixteenths pole when the frontrunner was trying to open up, posed the only threat skimming the fence straightening out for the drive, shifted outside gaining on the leader at the furlong pole and was relentless in his pursuit outside in deep stretch surging in the shadow of the wire for the late running score. MAYCOCKS BAY broke out on the start trading bumps, had the lead dictating the pace comfortably up top two wide in the early going, continued to move well controlling the pace on the rail while shadowed outside down the backstretch, edged away from the early pace rival midway around the final bend, continued up front well in command in the two path at the top of the stretch, was urged for more on the rail with the winner bearing down outside in the final furlong, drifted out trying to stave off the late challenger in the final seventy yards but was caught outside just before the wire. SEDBURYS GHOST broke inwards exchanging bumps with the inside rival on the start, travelled three wide on the first of two turns tracking the frontrunner, took closer order outside forcing the pace at the half, was hard ridden but could not keep up to the frontrunner who was slipping away at the five sixteenths pole, had the three path turning for home unable to continue on with the front duo who had it to themselves in the drive but still finished up willingly to be all alone at the wire for the show award. WAR COURT was unhurried at the back of the pack travelling just off the fence, remained on the outside in last but the field was very compact at the half, came under a drive three wide at the five sixteenths pole unable to make any headway on the leaders through the far turn and showed some late grit winning the minor battle outside in deep stretch. FRIENDLY GHOST travelled two wide watching the front three runners, had one runner beaten down the backstretch settling into a good rhythm down the backside, was relegated to the rear two wide between horses at the three eighths pole still well within striking distance with the filed tightly bunched, could not keep up to the lead trio with the pace quickening at the quarter pole and weakened inside in the final eighth of a mile.
