VERGE had a nice spot rating kindly sitting just outside and off the pacesetter down the backstretch, inched up flanking the leader outside between horses two wide in midturn, chipped away in the three path posing the main opposition in upper stretch and wore down the stubborn frontrunner in deep stretch for the win. SIGN THE PAPERS was nudged on leaving the gate loose on the engine down the backstretch, had the fence narrowly up top under a hold bunching up the field at the quarter pole, fought on determinedly holding on through mid-stretch inside bit could not fend off the relentless pressure by the winner late when giving away grudgingly in the final seventy yards. TOWNLINE BERTIE settled inside another in mid-division, took closer order on the fence at the half, sat poised on the rail behind runners on the turn at the quarter marker, advanced hugging the rail taking the corner, could not match strides with the lead duo at the furlong pole but dug in late to hold on inside for the show award. SILENT EXPLOSION pulled at the rider outside foes having only the poor starter beaten along the backside, tried to circle four wide around three rivals with a sharp turn of foot at the quarter pole, swung out widest in the five path but could not sustain the strong momentum turning for home and finished up mildly in the last eighth of a mile for a minor share only. MORRISSEAU had the outside position sitting in the middle of the pack, began to pick up the bit three wide between foes at the five sixteenths pole, angled to the four path in the mix with rivals on either side in upper stretch but could not find more late weakening by the furlong marker. OD BITOLA was away slowly being hard ridden just to stay involved down the backstretch, lagged well behind the group unable to keep up through the turn and lost touch with the pack by upper stretch.
