SHIMMERING FROST was fleet footed loose up top down the backstretch, continued to move well unchallenged around the turn, had a commanding lead three wide in upper stretch, was getting leg weary in the final sixteenth but had such a big advantage built up cruised on in with little to worry about at the finish line. KARAT GOLD tracked the loose pacesetter paired up with an inside runner down the backstretch, continued outside another unable to close the gap on the leader around the bend, shifted to the two to three path in upper stretch still in the hunt, could not find more in the late going to close in on the tiring winner in the final furlong but did dig in for the final seventy yards to save the runners up share inside at the finish line. HOT GYAL MOSSOP ran in tandem with an outside foe in the third flight, was isolated coming with a rally in midturn trying to catch up to the front three runners, shifted to the four path for the drive to the wire, closed in mildly outside horses in the final furlong with the winner long gone by then and just missed getting up outside at the wire for the place share. FRANCINE'S HONOUR had an inside tracking position in the early stages, chased the frontrunning winner in vain on the rail through the bend, had the rail dueling inside for the secondary share in mid-stretch but faded in the final seventy yards inside rivals to hold for a minor share in the end. MANDALENA had a slow start trailing down the chute, closed the gap sharing the rear outside at the half, came under a drive offering little in the turn running and showed little in the three path through the stretch drive. BENKA veered in sharply on the start hitting the inside part of the gate having only the other troubled beginner beaten in the early going, co-trailed on the inside at the half, saved ground but was a long last around the oval, skimmed the fence turning for home and could only reel in a tired outside foe in deep stretch. STILETTO VIXEN veered out on the start, settled on the outside of another in the third flight down the backside, idled around the turn getting passed by an inside foe at the quarter pole and failed to menace in the four path down the lane.
