Footnotes
MARY GOODNIGHT was fractious behind the gate having to be loaded without the rider, trailed the field finding her stride down the backstretch, continued at the rear but was starting to reach for more ground midway around the far turn, swung out widest to the six path with a full head of steam and charged past runners seizing control by the furlong pole and won going away impressively when crossing the finish line. STARLA travelled three deep outside two others shadow the leader, ranged up three wide on the last turn in the thick of things by the three eighths pole, angled to the five path in the mix with runners on both sides at the top of the lane, briefly took control leaving the three sixteenths marker but was no match for the overpowering late kick by the winner outside with a furlong to go. ETAWA (IRE) settled on the outside of another near the rear for the first part of this two turn event, began to close in narrowing the margin three wide at the five sixteenths pole, shifted five wide straightening out for the drive, shifted inwards getting a clear lane in the two path with a furlong remaining and closed in late finishing up a non threatening third in the end. STAR ATTRACTION had a good spot on the rail tucked in drafting behind the pacesetter, sat on hold waiting for the cue to go behind the engaged trio throughout the final bend, had to be checked looking for a seam two wide in the mix but finding no room at the top of the lane, shifted outside regaining momentum late and stubbornly came back on for a minor share. GO OLIVIA had her neck bowed tracking the frontrunner outside, took closer order on the far turn vying between horses for the lead two wide at the three eighths marker, got her head in front for a fleeting moment in the three path in upper stretch but tired with a furlong remaining. FAITH UNDERSTOOD settled on the fence travelling well in hand having one runner beaten who happened to be the eventual winner, saved all the ground through the last turn but dropped back to the tail end by the five sixteenths pole, moved out to the six path turning for home but only could manage to pass the inside leg weary early leader in the late going. BACKGAMMON had the lead on the rail setting a soft pace in the early stages, was clinging up top just off the fence with outside rivals threatening in upper stretch but could not find another gear for the late running and folded inside of runners by the eighth pole.
