Footnotes
B THE KING broke inwardly, settled inside at the rear, saved ground on the turn coming into upper stretch along the rail, tipped out at that juncture with aim on the leader, was put to vigorous hand urging, struck the lead a sixteenth out and drove clear. TWIST OF SUGAR was urged at the start and swiftly moved clear to set the pace, was no match for the winner but well clear of the rest. ADORABLE ANGEL appeared to get brushed ever so lightly heading to the turn, advanced mildly outside runners four wide on that bend, kept on in the stretch to run along for show. ASTONESTHROWAWAY got away well, chased from inside, came out leaving the turn, was three to five wide in the stretch, ran on but lacked the needed late kick. MANCHESTER ICE pursued from between foes up the backstretch, appeared to brush lightly with a rival into the turn, was between and behind runners without room near the quarter pole, failed to rally in the stretch. TEAM ALMASTY chased from outside a rival, raced mostly three wide on the turn, faded in the stretch.
