Footnotes
MAGIC SLIPS was forwardly-placed up close to the leader inside early, steadily eased back to track in behind the top pair into the turn, moved out leaving that bend, struck the lead outside the furlong marker and moved just clear, held a rival while being kept to task. DOADSTER advanced inside on or just off the rail on the turn and upper stretch, could make no headway on the winner late and was second best. BENLION was unhurried inside at the back, came out leaving the turn starting to advance, moved out further in the stretch, finished strongly to be gaining late. GRAFFITI WRITER chased from between foes, dropped back when in tight about the half, continued losing ground between foes on the turn, angled ten wide turning for home, kept on late to improve. VERY DEBONAIRE settled mid-pack racing mostly two to three wide, edged closer late on the turn, shifted out leaving the bend six wide, could only go on evenly late. GUARD OF HONOUR stalked early from outside just off the leaders, made a swift early advance to apply pressure to the leader at the half, drew even late on the turn taking the lead by the top of the stretch, was overtaken nearing the furlong grounds and lacked the needed late kick. MONDAY MORNING was off the pace near mid-division three to four wide early, shifted in late on the turn while dropping back, finished up with late interest near but off the fence. DIVA'S GHOST settled toward the rear outside, fanned nine wide, passed tired rivals. QUANDALE was within range five to six wide outside foes on the turn but failed to rally in the stretch. IRISH DEPUTY was forwardly-placed chasing in behind the leaders and outside a foe, moved out late on the turn, faltered and faded. CLIVE CROSS bumped a rival early soon after the start, raced near the rail saving some ground, failed to menace. AWE INSPIRED was bumped after the start when in tight and bounced around a bit, was outside a rival toward the rear, fanned eight wide into upper stretch, was not a factor. EL DIABLITO was quick to take the lead, set the tempo from outside, shifted in once clear midway up the backstretch, was thereupon challenged by an outside foe, dueled inside that one through the turn then gave way in upper stretch. BLUE MONTJEU was mid-pack briefly, steadily dropped back and faded.
