Footnotes
KING ELVIS hesitated on the start, had a stalking role going three wide outside foes ahead of one runner on the first bend, made a sharp move three deep at the half closing in quickly outside horses, edged up three wide on the outside on the final turn, seized control poking his head in front in the three path by the furlong marker and was kept busy by the rider late to just prevail on the inside at the finish line. SOONER LUNAR had a good spot nestled on the fence behind the frontrunner, was scrubbed on midpoint of the last turn but was losing a little ground to the leaders at the five sixteenths pole, found another gear three wide under a hustling ride in mid-stretch and resurged in the last sixteenth outside to make it close at the wire but had to settle for second best in the end. WAR IN CHARGE was content to sit just off and to the outside of the pacesetter in the first turn, took closer order down the backstretch at the half, moved in outside battling up front at the three eighths pole, had a head advantage between foes with a quarter mile to run, gave way to the top pair by the eighth pole and just lasted inside, saving for the show money in a tight photo at the wire. TRUE SHOT was unhurried trailing in the early stages of the race, still lagged behind on the far turn but started to narrow the margin by the quarter pole, angled out four wide picking up a couple of tired inside horses at the furlong pole and with a late charge in deep stretch just missed for the third place share in a picture at the finish. BRITISH ARTILLERY stalked inside another settling in midfield, dropped back losing forward position at the half, offered a brief run under encouragement four wide outside rivals at the quarter marker, could not sustain the run and finished up evenly five wide in the final furlong. CATCH A TIGER was loose up top on the first turn, remained on the front end setting an even pace down the backside, was headed outside at the three furling pole, fought on stubbornly inside runners through the far turn but folded on the rail at the furlong marker.
