Footnotes
MAP'S A BREEZE was brushed on the outside on the break, travelled inside runners in midfield, narrowed the margin inside another at the half, waited for running room just off the rail through the final turn, shifted in from the two path in upper stretch coming to the leader at the furlong pole and powered past inside in the last sixteenth with an impressive late turn of foot. LOST ARK settled in the middle of the pack on the first bend, was roused at the half moving in on the rail at the three furlong pole behind the lead trio, kept pace taking the short way around the far turn, hugged the rail in the hunt turning for home, poked his head up top briefly in the two path between foes at the eighth pole, was no match for the winner late but a valiant try nonetheless easily staying for second best at the wire . JAYHAWK had the rail watching the front threesome in the beginning, was urged between foes in the two path at the three furlong pole to edge closer on the far turn to be in the mix five wide by upper stretch and finished up mildly under a vigorous ride to be a non-threatening third in the end. NO MORE OPTIONS broke in at the start, had the lead on the rail in the first turn, dueled inside down the back straight, edged away for a clear lead by the three furlong pole, increased the advantage with a quarter mile to run, had a diminishing hold on the front end three wide at the top of the lane but faded giving way up top coming to the sixteenth pole and just saved for a minor share at the wire. WESTSIDE TIDE settled near the rear outside horses, travelled three deep making little change along the back straight, started to make a run circling four wide on the final turn at the quarter marker, swung out wide gaining momentum in the eight path turning for home, appeared to have stayed on the wrong lead down the lane but still kept coming on to the end and just missed for a minor placing outside in the end. POSSIBLEMENTE stalked close to the back on the rail, shifted out four deep on the outside at the five furlong pole, made an early move pulling the rider closer at the half, tried to split foes three wide at the quarter pole but was in tight having to be checked for an instant losing his run, angled to the four path for the stretch run but lost his path in the final seventy yards playing no factor late. JUNIPERO SERRA was unhurried seeing the field for the first part on the race, caught up to rivals inside at the quarter pole and finished with good interest three wide between horses passing many runners in the late stretch drive. GRANDSON stalked close to the back on the outside of another, moved in closer down the backstretch between runners, mounted a rally four wide with runners on either side at the quarter pole, found a seam six wide at the top of the stretch, was gaining gradually down the lane but could not get into contention at the finish line. DAI VERNON stalking in the second to last position on the fence, closed the gap when the field bunched up at the half mile marker, saved ground making little impact on the far turn, was looking for a seam three wide in upper stretch, had clear run on the rail but failed to fire in the final furlong. FIGHTER IN THE WIN had a good spot sitting behind the lead duo on the first turn, closed to splitting the dueling leaders at the half, chased the frontrunner around the last turn to be in the mix between foes three wide at the head of the stretch, could not find more late and weakened in the last sixteenth. HARLAN ESTATE travelled outside another rival in mid-pack, made little progression along the backside, regressed three wide through the final turn and had little to offer in the six path in the drive to the finish line. TIME FOR TRUTH pressed the issue on the outside in the early going, gave way up top going three wide outside the lead duo at the three furlong pole, had nothing left in reserve for the stretch running and yielded between foes six wide in upper stretch. LAST DAWN settled on the outside keeping a close eye on the lead three in the early stages, moved three wide at the three eighths pole holding his own outside around the last bend, angled out between foes for the stretch drive eight wide, had nothing to give and emptied out by the furlong pole.
