Footnotes
REALLY GOOD stalked near the rear on the inside on the first turn as well as down the back straight, inched up in the third flight looking for a seam taking the short way around the final turn, skimmed the fence at the top of the stretch posing the main threat, shot through on the inside at the furlong pole and won going away at the wire. HEMLO GOLD was situated close to the back of the pack three wide on the initial turn, narrowed the margin outside foes at the half, began to reach for more ground three wide at the quarter pole, was in the thick of things six wide in upper stretch, dug in through the lane but chased the winner in vain to the wire. JIM'S HOPE was tucked in on the rail behind the dueling pair, was roused shifting out three wide at the quarter pole making a run, had no room three wide stuck behind the fading early leaders at the top of the lane, finally had clear run by the sixteenth pole and rallied late to capture the third place share. SAILOR'S PASSION had a stalking role between horses, was hard ridden making little headway at the three eighths pole, swung out widest in the seven path for the drive to the wire finding his best stride late and closed in to be a fringe player outside rivals at the finish line. VOLCANIC was allowed to settle into stride trailing the field, lagged well behind the group through the far turn, shifted out from the inside turning for home to be six wide outside horses having a clear lane and finished up with some run passing a few weary foes outside in the final furlong. PRINCE OF THIEVES travelled outside rivals tracking the engaged pair along the backside, was scrubbed on four wide between horses trying to keep forward position at the quarter pole, had no finish down the lane and weakened in the final eighth of a mile. PEJA DU dueled on the outside for the first half of this route race, continued to slug it out around the last bend, could not find more for the stretch run and yielded in the three path between horses a the furlong marker. MAD DOG N JOE had the contested lead on the inside in the early stages, battled on the rail through the far turn with the other speed rival never giving way on the outside, had little left for the stretch run, was engulfed by runners on both sides at the furlong pole and was not persevered with late.
