Footnotes
MAXIMUM FIFTY was away alertly taking control from the onset, was unopposed travelling down the backside, moved strongly up top with no rivals in sight around the turn, was nudged along through the lane not switching leads but still won under a hand ride by a decisive margin. HOME FOR A REST was part of the tracking quintet having the two path between foes after the start, dropped back abruptly for a stride or two at the five eighths pole to sit in midfield along the backside, had a good sustained turn of foot on the fence throughout the turn, scraped paint at the top of the lane still coming on, burst between runners at the furlong pole and was running the quickest in deep stretch but could not get to the winner who built up an insurmountable lead. ANAM CARA stalked near the rear outside, mounted a rally on the rail at the five sixteenths pole, angled out gathering momentum four wide in upper stretch and finished up willingly in the final furlong to be a clear third at the wire. EMPTY GESTURE had the rail in the second flight watching the loose leader, was under a busy ride unable to close the gap on the runaway frontrunner around the turn, kept on plugging away on the fence trying to hold for the place share in mid-stretch but faded in the final seventy yards to garner a minor placing in the end. PROMISING co-trailed on the outside with five furlongs from home, started to make a run just off the rail at the quarter pole inside rivals, moved out six wide having a clear lane for the drive and came with a solid late charge outside runners in the final furlong. CLAY SOLDIER had the three path part of the five rivals keeping tabs on the loose pacesetter down the back straight, settled in the third tier inside another heading into the turn, rallied shifting off the fence at the five sixteenths pole gathering speed three wide at the quarter marker, dueled in the mix for a minor share at the top of the stretch, could not continue the run and evened out in the last eighth of a mile. SOCIETY'S KAT had a poor start, improved outside down the backstretch to sit in midfield by the half, was under encouragement spinning his wheels three wide midway around the turn, shifted to the four path at the top of the lane, moved to the fence in mid-stretch but could not get involved in the late running. TABLOID MATERIAL was unhurried sharing the rear inside early down the backstretch, lagged well behind the pack on the turn, shifted out five wide turning for home and could only manage to pass a couple weary runners in the final eighth of a mile. TAKEMYBOURBONNEAT was part of the quintet watching the lone speed leader down the backstretch while sitting outside five deep, chased the winner while outside another through the bend making no gain, regressed drifting out four wide at the quarter pole, angled to the five path for the stretch run, emptied out in upper stretch and was not persevered with in the final furlong. HOODLESS broke out on the start, tracked in the four path early on, dropped back losing position at the half, backed way steadily through the field around the turn, had nothing left for the stretch run and galloped in.
