Footnotes
TRUE NORTH STAR was away alertly controlling the pace loose up top down the backside at the three-quarters marker, rated kindly on the front end with little pressure from the closest pursuer around the bend, had the two path well in command at the top of the stretch, was finally set down when tapped right-handed coming up to the eighth pole and ran up the score in the late going to win easily at the wire for the gate to wire tally. SAMARITAN TRAIL had the rail being part of the tracking quartet down the backside, kept a close eye on the top two runners staying on the fence on the turn, shifted just outside in the two path chasing the winner home in vain but did fight on inside in deep stretch to best the rest albeit being a distant second at the finish line. TIME FOR ACTION pressed the leader on the outside initially, had the two-path part of the foursome watching the lone leader midway down the backside, took back on the inside settling in the third flight moving well in hand around the bend, shifted out making a rally two wide at the five sixteenths pole, had aim on the stablemate in the five path with a quarter mile to run but was no match unable to close in by the furlong pole and was just edged out by an inside runner at the wire for the second place award. KINGSLAYER was unhurried on the outside having only a couple of runners beaten in the early stages, shifted out seven wide at the head of the lane, drifted inwards from a right-handed crop picking up the bit through the stretch running and had a strong charge on the rail in the final furlong to garner a minor share with a good late turn of foot. COLONELS INFLUENCE had the four path outside of two rivals sitting in mid-division, offered little movement going three wide on the turn, swung out widest to the seven path in upper stretch and kept on coming on steadily down the lane passing runners. MONA settled inside horses in the middle of the pack in the early stages, had the five-path entering the lengthy stretch, altered course coming up to a tiring rival at the furlong marker losing a bit of momentum when leaving the furlong marker and showed some late interest still finishing up gaining a position in the late going. JAZZY SCOOPS trailed on the outside in the beginning, travelled two wide around the oval near the rear making little impact, lagged at the back in the five path turning for home and had some late run improving between horses in the final furlong. MERCKX pulled at the jockey four deep outside tracking the pacesetter, ranged up closing the gap two wide throughout the turn, moved to the three path in the hunt at the top of the lane but could not offer a late finishing kick and wilted between foes by the sixteenth pole. ROSE had the rail position close to the back end, continued taking the short way around the bend making little headway and failed to fire in the three path through the stretch drive. RUBY ROSSO settled between rivals in midfield down the backside, made a brief run circling around foes three wide at the three-furlong pole, shifted out to the seven path in the conversation for a piece of the prize outside at the quarter marker but folded with runners on both sides in the final eighth of a mile. ARKIN hopped up slightly on the start, settled near the rear inside early on, could see the field saving all the ground in the turn running and could not play a factor in the two path in the drive to the wire. WORTHY PARK tugged at the rider progressing three in the three path between horses watching the frontrunner midway along the backstretch, was driven on two wide on the turn but was going in the wrong direction being passed by runners on either side at the three eighths pole, scraped paint taking the final corner and ran out of gas stopping at the furlong marker.
