Footnotes
SUNDAY'S WELL emerged from the scramble up top early to shake loose on the lead by the half, moved very well uncontested rolling along around the bend, still remained well in control midway down the stretch and was kept to the task to win comfortably albeit by a diminishing margin at the wire. JOE WEST settled inside a rival in mid-division, rallied smartly in the two path picking up the bit just off the fence with five sixteenths from home, posed the only threat to the front running winner two wide in upper stretch, kept coming on determinedly down the lane, closed in well late but could not get there in time. GLASWEIGIAN stalked near the rear in the beginning, edged up on the fence narrowing the margin through the turn, angled out three wide turning for home and finished up with good energy getting the show money being a distant third at the finish line. WESTMINSTER was unhurried seeing the field at the half, lagged well behind the group around the turn, swung out four wide outside foes gathering speed at the top of the lane, found his best stride late and passed a few runners in the final furlong for a minor role in the end. TIERNAN had the rail keeping tabs on the front two down the backside, saved ground while under a ride in the turn at the quarter pole, closed in slightly to be in the mix scraping paint in upper stretch, could not offer a rally down the lane and flattened out at the furlong marker. BUCYK travelled outside another in midfield down the back straight, made little progression taking the overland route going four wide outside horses on the turn and in the four path offered little finish through the stretch under very little urging from the rider. TIGER TOWN was content to watch the pacesetter down the backstretch, was roused for more chasing the winner in vain around the oval, could not quicken when engulfed by rivals on each side at the quarter pole and folded in the three path in upper stretch.
