Footnotes
FLAMBO was away very slowly being a long last down the backside, lagged well behind still trying to find his rhythm around the oval, closed the gap skimming the fence turning for home, figured things out reaching for more ground gaining with every stride shifting out three wide coming on with a rush in the final furlong, darted inwards to the two path at the seventy yard pole getting a clear lane and got up in the last few jumps for the impressive late turn of foot victory. MR BOND was part of the tracking trio between runners keeping a close watch on the contesting duo down the backside, sat poised isolated behind the lead trio who was throwing it down around the turn, moved out making his presence felt outside in the five path in upper stretch, kept chipping away down the lane, poked his head in front looking a winner for a fleeting moment in deep stretch but was nabbed by the winner with that powerful late surge inside nearing the wire. SPEEDY EGO leapt up at the start, improved along the backside inside runners to sit behind the arguing duo up top at the half, moved in to bid for the lead three wide outside the already engaged pair throughout the turn, had a head advantage between rivals in mid-stretch but was outkicked in the final seventy yards holding for the show money. MY JUSTYN THYME was antsy in the stall just before the start, broke alertly and was hard sent on the fence by the rider getting a head in front throughout the backstretch, took the short way around the turn maintaining a slim lead while pestered by two outside foes in the turn running, hugged the rail retreating slightly at the top of the stretch, was gamely resurgent inside rivals at the sixteenth pole and never wavered to the very end settling on the fringes in a flurry of a finish in deep stretch. PEACEFUL DANCER settled in midfield three deep down the backside, was unable to keep up to the lead foursome regressing on the turn by the quarter pole, shifted to the three path but was relegated to last with a sixteenth still to run and could not get into contention late but still managed to show good late energy closing the gap at the finish line. PONCH'S SERENADE battled outside on the front end well ahead of the group in the early going, vied between horses two wide fighting up top around the bend, remained in the two path still in the mix in upper stretch, gave way dueling up top by the sixteenth pole, had to be steadied losing momentum when the outside eventual winner came over diving inwards finding a seam in the the two path at the seventy yard marker and could not recover afterwards. STEWARDS INQUIRY REGARDING #2 PONCHS SERENADE AND #4 FLAMBO AT THE SEVENTY YARD MARKER RESULTED IN NO CHANGE
