Footnotes
SPEEDY BEAR had the fence while sitting in mid-pack, travelled in hand in the second flight on the bend waiting for the cue inside at the quarter pole, pounced in the two path trying to find a lane in upper stretch, squeezed through runners three wide at the furlong pole and fought on determinedly inside challengers late to time the nod right at the wire for the hard fought victory. WILD CARD was allowed to settle into stride at the back of the pack, started to make a rally picking up outside runners at the five sixteenths pole, shifted out three wide reaching for more ground at the quarter pole to be a menacing presence in the five path at the top of the lane, battled gamely outside rivals to the end but was denied by a head bob at the finish line. PAYNES SPIRIT broke outwards on the start, settled on the outside near the rear in the early going, closed the gap to be in the second flight outside of another through the turn, was in the thick of things in the three path straightening out for home, was pushed out four wide by the eventual winner battling at the furlong pole, fought on stubbornly between horses to the wire and took the show money when losing a tight three way finish for the win. JOE WEST was brushed on the inside at the break, chased the frontrunner between foes down the backstretch, forced the issue on the outside up top on the turn, had a head advantage two wide between rivals in upper stretch, was collared outside by a few rivals at the furlong marker having no answer and faded late to settle for a minor share. RED WEAVER tracked the pacesetter in the three path with runners on both sides, could not quicken with the inside runners when three wide at the three eighths marker, shared the rear on the rail at the head of the stretch and could not make any impact in the late running. DARK DANGER travelled four deep outside foes in mid-division, retreated four wide going outside of rivals around the turn to be at the back of the field by the five sixteenths pole and had nothing left to offer three wide at the top of the lane. ISAAC LEO was nudged along up top down the backside, was headed outside at the midway point of the turn, determinedly dueled on the fence holding on in upper stretch, could not continue on late up top inside horses and folded at the sixteenth pole.
