THE GREAT OZ set the pace inside, was shadowed by an outside rival, came out sharply under strong left-handed urging past the furlong marker, bumped a rival near the sixteenth pole then continued to carry that one out late, held. WAR BOMBER (IRE) pressed the winner from outside, was bumped by that one and carried out late. WYOMING BILL switched out early, moved up outside foes three to four wide on the turn, loomed a threat under urging past the quarter pole, shifted inside the drifting leaders near late stretch, could make no headway on those. SUMMER COMMANDER tracked inside on or just off the rail, went evenly. HANLAN chased from between foes into the turn, failed to rally. BLAZING BUCCHERO was near the inside at the back and failed to menace. FOLLOWING AN OBJECTION BY THE RIDER OF WAR BOMBER (IRE) AGAINST THE GREAT OZ AND STEWARDS' INQUIRY, THE LATTER WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM FIRST AND PLACED SECOND BEHIND THE FORMER FOR INTERFERENCE IN LATE STRETCH.
