Footnotes
HIGHLAND PEAK broke a step slow on the start, was hustled to get into the race co-trailing on the inside of another on the first turn, inched up on the fence down the backside by the half, was taken back, switching to the outside at the three-furlong pole, started to come with a strong rally four wide around foes at the quarter pole, was in full flight drifting inwards under a right handed crop at the furlong pole and stormed up the fence to powered past the leader in the final seventy yards for the stretch running win. DROGON travelled four wide near the rear on the first of two turns, advanced outside horses three deep down the backstretch at the half, had a good turn of foot three wide on the second turn closing in on the top two rivals, moved to the five path for the stretch run finding his best stride by the furlong pole but was outkicked by the surging winner in deep stretch. DEVIL'S TONGUE had the lead on the rail early on, continued to dictate the pace along the back straight, rolled along on the final turn uncontested up front, was under a busy ride holding on while hearing horses coming at the eighth pole, could not find more late and faded in the final seventy yards still lasting for the show money at the wire. SOUPER VINNIE vied between horses early on, was cleverly reined back at the three quarters marker to sit all alone watching the engaged duo down the backside, chased the pacesetter in vain around the last turn, began to shorten stride on the wrong lead in mid-stretch and faded in the last sixteenth of a mile to settle on the fringes. ROYAL ENTRY co-trailed on the outside in the beginning, remained at the rear down the back straightaway, offered a mild rally at the five sixteenths pole, shifted to the four path pass a couple of runners inside turning for home but could not get involved any further in the late running. CARRICK ON STAGE settled on the outside of a rival in midfield, was going the wrong way having the fence on the last turn to be at the pack by the quarter pole and showed some interest to come back on passing a couple of runners in the stretch drive. SILENT KNIGHT settled inside a runner in mid-division on the first turn, improved inside horses down the backside by the half, was asked for more run at the three eighths pole, offered little response around the far turn and came up empty in the drive to the wire. PLEASE DON'T GO prompted the issue three wide outside two others on the initial turn, hounded the frontrunner outside down the backside, came under a ride but was backing away through the field on the fence around the last turn, had little to offer in the stretch and cantered home.
