Footnotes
GIVE ME THE BOOTS was nudged on for more at the start intent on getting the lead, cleared off from the pack to be loose up top on the rail by the five eighths pole, moved well in hand still on the engine while pressed outside on the turn, spurted clear from her pursuers on the rail in upper stretch and increased the winning margin while being kept to the task for the frontrunning win in the final furlong. ANAM CARA was part of the back trio on the outside going three deep down the back straight, had a good sustained rally circling foes three wide initially at the three furlong pole, kept closing in five wide with a quarter mile to run, shifted to the seven path still making a rally, could not get to the winner who had more late but finished up solidly outside to be second best at the wire. HOME FOR A REST settled outside of runners in midfield, started to make a move in the three path with an outside foe at the quarter pole, had to be checked when losing her path six wide at the top of the lane losing all momentum and determinedly resurged outside foes late to be a clear third at the wire while just missing out on the place share too. SINCLAIRITY had the two path tracking just behind the frontrunner down the backside, started to mount a run midway on the turn, posed a threat two wide straightening out for the wire, stalled by the furlong pole when trying to chase the winner and faded inside foes in deep stretch to settle for a minor role in the end. SPIRIT BEAR prompted the pace outside at the half, chased the leader outside around the bend unable to advance, moved to the four path still in the mix turning for home but could not catch up to the winner by the furlong marker and evened out between horses in the last eighth of a mile. VERDEJO was forwardly placed in the early going, dropped back on the fence in midfield by the half, could not make any headway on the rail throughout the turn and lacked a rally inside runners down the stretch. JUST FOLLOW ME was under a snug hold tracking the leader down the back straight, could not hold forward position being shuffled back at the three furlong pole, was roused trying to keep up to runners at the quarter pole, shifted out sharply in the six path straightening out for home but had little to give, fading in the final furlong. CANADIANSWEETHEART was unhurried trailing the field along the backstretch and throughout the turn, tried to mount a run shifting out three wide at the quarter pole, swung out widest in the eight path at the top of the lane but could only manage to pass tired foes down the stretch. BIT OF MUSIC was part of the early mix up front while four deep down the backside at the half, was asked for run midturn with little response, shifted out at the quarter pole three wide, was jostled between runners when tiring six to seven wide in upper stretch and failed to menace in the late stages. WHY EM SEA AY settled on the rail near the rear, made no gain saving all the ground round the oval, scraped paint continuing the shortest way to the wire at the top of the lane but could not factor in the stretch running.
