WATSONVILLE RED was in tight and fought restraint early along the inside, switched out off the rail on the first turn, settled mid-pack, took closer order late on the first turn, angled six wide in upper stretch, struck the lead past the furlong marker, held sway. SHERIF ALI hopped slightly at the start then promptly dropped back and angled in to the rail, unhurriedly brought up the rear, advanced just off the inside on the far turn, swung five wide into upper stretch, rallied through traffic but was only second best. JOURNEYMAN steadied early when in tight as rivals came in, settled toward the rear near but off the inside, fanned eight wide into upper stretch, kept on late to be best of the rest. ONENIGHTSTANDARDS steadied in the early going when in tight as rivals came in, raced mostly three wide first toward the rear then making a mild advance up the backstretch, fanned seven wide into upper stretch, evened out in the lane. FLY THE W stalked the leaders from off the inside, raced three to five wide throughout, moved out while leaving the far turn to bid at the top of the stretch taking a brief lead, faltered and faded. FABER was just a bit fractious in the gate, shifted in early, raced off the pace near mid-pack on or just off the fence, was one-paced. COUNTRYBOYSURVIVE was forwardly-placed tracking in behind the leaders, saved ground, bid inside midway on the far turn, faded in the stretch. GRAFFITI WRITER chased from outside three to five wide, failed to menace. C MY MEISTER stalked from outside up close, bid three wide at the five-sixteenths, faltered in the stretch. CHANCEL was urged forward and quickly clear shifting in, set the pace from off the rail, faltered and faded.
