Footnotes
PERIWINKLE was bumped on the inside at the start, sat nestled on the fence drafting behind the pacesetter down the backside, still rated kindly waiting for the cue to move from the rider on the rail behind the leaders through the turn, shifted to the two path choosing which lane to take in upper stretch, opted to dart inside of runners at the furlong pole, stayed on the incorrect lead taking the lead by the sixteenth pole and drew clear for the late running when at the finish line. NEENAH had an outside tracking position in the early going, edged up in the two path midway around the oval, was forced to move with an outside foe making a rally by the quarter pole, was in the thick of it all four wide between horses at the top of the stretch but could not accelerate with the winner late and settled for a clear second best at the wire. DAZZLING CRUISER broke outwards on the start, settled at the rear with the compact field tightly grouped at the half, made a brief rally circling around horses three wide on the turn, loomed widest in the five-path straightening out for the drive, stalled at the furlong pole unable to threaten for the win in the late going but still found a little bit more late to get the third place share on the last jump from a tiring early leader. SOUNDS PRACTICAL pulled the rider to the lead setting a soft winded aided pace along the back straight, continued up top while hounded outside while quickening the tempo around the turn, narrowly maintained the advantage two wide at the top of the stretch, was surrounded on both sides by rivals at the furlong pole, could not fend off the closers late and faded in the last sixteenth of a mile to just get nabbed trying to hold for the show award at the wire.
