Footnotes
PADDINGTON got bumped at the start by CASTLE ISLAND, who recovered outwards from a stumble, raced three then two wide in closest aim of that rival, came under coaxing near the five-sixteenths, angled three to four wide into upper stretch, rallied to take command just inside the eighth pole, edged away under a drive to prevail. CASTLE ISLAND stumbled at the start recovering outwards and bumping the aforementioned foe, showed the way in hand just off the inside and then along the inside coming under coaxing near the quarter pole, spun just off the inside into upper stretch, dug in under lone threat to the outside and was collared just inside the eighth pole, ran on well clear of the rest to be along second best. PRINCE OF CHILL coaxed from the start, chased two to three wide under urging from the three-eighths, angled four wide into upper stretch and weakened in the late stages. PORTOS just off the inside through the first turn, chased four then three wide down the backstretch and through the far turn ridden along from the seven-sixteenths, went eight wide at the top of the stretch and improved position to the finish. ICE TIME got bumped at the start by BECAUSE THE NIGHT, then got taken in hand when squeezed out between foes conceding five to six lengths to the front before settling into stride, chased along the inside coming under encouragement at the three-eighths, spun just off the inside into upper stretch and passed tired rivals through to the finish. BECAUSE THE NIGHT broke out at the start hitting the off side stall and then bumping and squeezing out ICE TIME, chased three then two wide through the first turn and then four wide thereafter, came under urging at the three-eighths, went nine wide into upper stretch and tired. ENGINEER EMPIRE tossed his head at the break, raced four then three wide through the first turn, chased four then three wide under coaxing from the five-sixteenths, swung five wide for home, tired, and was eased home through to the finish. I SEE YOU LOOKIN stumbled badly at the start pecking the ground before recovering, chased along the inside under encouragement from three furlongs out, tipped three wide into upper stretch, tired, and was eased through to the wire.
