Footnotes
CURBSTONE saved ground on the first turn, moved to the two path late on that bend, was coaxed along at the rear while further out in the track on the backstretch, came under stronger encouragement in the three path on the far turn, spun into the stretch in the four path while under a left-handed crop, drifted out starting around the three-sixteenths pole while still under left-handed pressure, straightened out when switched to a right-handed crop at the eighth-pole, rallied outside in the final furlong and closed well to get up in the final two strides and prevail. PHILEAS FOGG was hustled to the front, showed the way in the two path while inside of a rival, responded well when asked outside the quarter-pole, battled with FILM STAR under the crop in upper stretch, shook off that foe inside the furlong marker, swapped back to his left-lead outside the sixteenth-pole while still clear, led until the final two strides but was denied while clear for the place. FILM STAR stalked the pace on the outside in the three path, was asked early on the far turn, battled with the runner-up under a drive into the final furlong and weakened while clear for the show. OLYMPIC DREAMS was hustled from the gate, raced inside early on the first turn then moved to the two path midway through that bend before dropping back to the inside, was well placed just off the pace, came under urging late on the backstretch, chased inside on the far turn and came up empty. LAW PROFESSOR tossed his head and became rank when taken back by the rider nearing the first turn, came out to the four path into that bend, remained in the four path onto the backstretch, settled on the outside while getting some extra left-rein pressure, came up empty under continued left-rein pressure while in the four then five path on the far turn and faltered.
