Footnotes
EXPLORATION was away alertly, disputed the pace between horses, vied three wide on the turn, shook clear near the three-sixteenths pole then began to drift out under a left-handed crop, drifted out until near the furlong marker then straightened up when switched to a right-handed crop, had the rider put the crop away outside the sixteenth-pole and drew away under a strong hand-ride to prove much the best. GOOD AS HE GETS broke a length behind the top two as the field left the gate in two flights then was hustled, paused after being carried in early then switched out, moved up under urging, advanced while taken in hand behind the leading group near the nine-sixteenths pole, remained in hand while in the two path early on the turn, shifted to the three path while asked near the five-sixteenths pole, turned into the stretch in the four path and earned the place while no match for the winner. TIMING DIFFERENCE broke a length behind the top two as the field left the gate in two flights, was carried in early, moved up to dispute the pace on the inside of opponents, vied along the rail on the turn, dropped back in upper stretch and weakened while just able to get the show. EGYPT broke very fast then angled in while showing speed, disputed the pace between horses, vied in the two path while between foes on the turn and tired. CLARE QUILTY came away a length behind the top two horses leaving the gate, was hustled from the gate, showed speed then pressed the pace on the outside, dropped back near the half-mile pole, chased in the four path on the turn, dropped back late on that bend, moved to the three path into the stretch and capitulated.
