CAPTAIN COOK raced in the four then three path on the first turn, stalked the pace on the outside, made a bid in the four path on the far turn, was asked while taking the lead at the quarter-pole, shook off the runner-up at the furlong marker and edged clear under strong urging. SURFSIDE MOON traveled around the opening turn in the two path, settled off the pace, was urged along with five furlongs to run, chased in the three path early on the far turn, shifted to the five path late on that bend, gained to make a bid near the quarter-pole, fought outside of the winner under a drive in upper stretch and was outfinished while willingly clear for the place. OMAHA OMAHA broke a step slow, moved in at the rear of the field, saved ground on the first turn, settled at the back, came under urging inside the five-eighths pole, saved ground on the far turn, moved out in upper stretch then drifted out before being straightened and safely secured the show. MO QUALITY was hustled from the gate, dropped from the three path to the two path early on the first turn, prompted the pace on the outside, moved from the three path to the two path early on the far turn, led briefly passing the three-eighths pole, battled on even terms for the advantage into the stretch and weakened.
