ALWAYS BE SMART got pinched back and steadied at the start due to pressure from CLARE QUILTY breaking outwards and bumping ATROCIOUS into the his lane and conceded four lengths to the front, chased three to four wide down the backstretch and then three wide through the turn coming under coaxing at the seven-sixteenths, went to swing five wide into upper stretch and was carried out to the eighth pole straightened away by the shying out TIMING DIFFERENCE to his inside, dug in latched on that leader through the stretch to the finish taking narrow command a sixteenth out when coming in slightly on that rival, then dug in gamely to prevail. TIMING DIFFERENCE bobbled at the break and was brushed by PARTY WITH SMARTY, who broke in a step, and conceded three lengths to the front, chased five paths off the inside down the backstretch and then three wide through the turn taking over command nearing the quarter pole when placed to urging, went to swing four wide into upper stretch but shied out three paths under a left handed crop straightened away and carried out the aforementioned foe with him, dug in under threat from that rival and had that foe come inwards and was brushed when headed for the front a sixteenth out, fought on to the finish but was ultimately bested at the end. CLARE QUILTY broke out at the start bumping ATROCIOUS into the path of ALWAYS BE SMART, dueled from the three path with that rival to his outside, tucked inside at the half mile pole, came under urging at the three-eighths, cut the corner into upper stretch, then weakened in the drive. PARTY WITH SMARTY broke in at the start brushing TIMING DIFFERENCE, chased seven paths off the inside down the backstretch and then four wide through the turn ridden along from the seven-sixteenths, swung five wide for home and improved position by a tired rival. ATROCIOUS got bumped at the start by CLARE QUILTY and forced ALWAYS BE SMART to steady when taking over that rival's lane, dueled four then two wide coming under coaxing at the three-eighths, yielded the front near the five-sixteenths and went two to three wide into upper stretch, then tired through to the finish.
