Footnotes
THE BIG CALHOUNA stalked the pace on the outside, engaged the leader in the three path on the turn, took the advantage outside the quarter-pole, was put to a drive in upper stretch, disposed off the runner-up into the final furlong, extended the advantage under the crop into the final sixteenth then was placed under a solid hand-ride to the finish while much the best. PATTY VAN TWINKLE moved in while hustled to the front then showed the way, vied inside on the turn, was asked under threat inside the three-eighths pole, lost the advantage outside the quarter-pole, fought with the winner in upper stretch, lost touch with that rival inside the furlong marker then moved out around the sixteenth-pole and proved no match while well clear for the place. SCARBOROUGH FAIR was hustled from the gate, moved out near the seven-eighths pole, settled into a comfortable stride, was asked late on the backstretch, dropped back in the two path on the turn, spun into the stretch in the three path and lacked the needed response while best of the rest. YO LEVEN was hustled from the gate, settled at the rear, moved in leaving the backstretch, was roused while saving ground on the turn and failed to respond. BE INSPIRED broke out and was off a step slow, settled on the outside, dropped back under urging in the four path on the turn and faltered.
