HEADLINE NUMBERS coaxed from the gate, showed the way in hand along the inside through the first turn before tipping to the three path down the backstretch, had ALPINE PRINCESS advance near the half mile pole to the outside and remained three wide through the turn coming under coaxing at the five-sixteenths, swung four wide into upper stretch, edged clear under a drive to prevail. ALPINE PRINCESS was in a bit tight into the first turn along the inside to midway, tipped three wide then four wide down the backstretch nudging out MISS SPITFIRE near the five-eighths marker to gain a clear lane, advanced on the leader near the half mile pole and latched on into the far turn getting placed to urging three furlongs from home, tipped out six wide into upper stretch, got shaken off by the top one straightened away, ran on to chase the winner home along clear of the rest and second best. ELLIPTIC coaxed from the gate, raced just off the inside through the first turn, chased five then six paths off the inside down the backstretch before darting to the inside put to a ride half a mile from home, continued along the inside through the far turn and into upper stretch, weakened in the final furlong. MISS SPITFIRE three then two wide through the first turn, chased four paths off the inside to the five furlong marker when nudged five wide by ALPINE PRINCESS, tucked four then three wide coming under brief urging nine-sixteenths from home, lost ground through the far turn growing detached at the tail of the field, went five wide at the head of the stretch and was eased home through to the finish.
