Footnotes
LOOKS FIRST settled on the far outside, was roused in the four path while getting closer on the turn, rallied outside in upper stretch, closed well to get the lead outside the sixteenth-pole and held under steady urging. PROUD FOOT hit the outside of the gate, settled towards the rear, steadied briefly while moving from the rail to the two path just inside the three-eighths pole, shifted to the three path late on the turn, turned into the stretch in the five path and finished with good energy but was too late while clear for the place. MAJESTIC RETURN chased the pace on the outside, gained to take the advantage at the seven-sixteenths pole, dropped from the three path to the inside while shaking clear on the turn, was put to a right-handed crop in upper stretch, led until outside the sixteenth-pole then was collared by the winner and weakened but was clear for the show. DEFENDED was hustled from the gate, chased the pace down the backstretch, went around the turn in the two then three path, pursed the leader under a drive into the final furlong and tired. PROBLEMATICA showed speed then was eased back just off the pace, moved from the rail to the two path on the turn, dropped back in upper stretch and came up empty. FLORIDA FLOWER froze up in the chute and was very recalcitrant while well behind the gate, took a few minutes to be coaxed back to the gate then went straight in the stall, settled near the back, was urged along passing the nine-sixteenths pole, shifted from the three path to the four path on the turn, spun into the stretch in the six path and faltered then was eased in the final furlong but walked off. JACKIE THE JOKER was hustled from the gate, moved up to get the lead then set the pace, lost the advantage while along the rail early on the turn and stopped.
