TAKE CHARGE TOM had outside speed, came over before clearing into the stretch for the first time, causing WAR IS HELL behind him to clip heels and steady, and starting a chain reaction that forced ATTACK and MR JAWS to his inside to steady in tight, in turn forcing BORDER SONG to check hard along the rail, moved to a short pressured lead inside, opened up early on the final turn, took a good lead into the stretch, held well. ATTACK steadied between horses early, stalked forced pace outside, gave best stretch, was gaining late. MALDINI broke a step slow, stalked forced pace off rail, rallied to take the show. MR JAWS steadied early, stalked inside, dropped back into final turn, advanced off rail, rallied to make a show bid to no avail. BORDER SONG checked hard inside passing the eighth pole for the first time, dropped back, advanced off the rail, rallied to no avail. JUST TRUST ME forced pace outside to the final turn, gave way, faded. WAR IS HELL clipped heels with TAKE CHARGE TOM early, dropped back, saved ground, lacked rally. ACKNOWLEDGE steadied between horses early, stalked wide, lacked rally. The rider aboard BORDER SONG lodged a claim of foul against the riders of MR JAWS and ATTACK for early interference. The trainers of WAR IS HELL and ATTACK lodged a claim of foul against the rider of TAKE CHARGE TOM for early interference. There was also a STEWARDS INQUIRY. As a result, TAKE CHARGE TOM was disqualified from first and placed seventh.
