Footnotes
VAN VOLLENHOVEN tracked the pace down the backstretch, was asked in the three path on the turn, made a bid while in the four path late on that bend, took the lead at the quarter-pole, kicked clear in upper stretch, drifted out under a left-handed crop near the furlong marker then was switched to a right-handed crop, drew away under the crop until just before the sixteenth-pole then was placed under a hand-ride to the finish while much the best. SANZIO was hustled from the gate then urged along on the outside, went around the turn in the four path, turned into upper stretch under a drive and safely secured the place while no match for the winner. EIGHTY GOLD bobbled at the start then bumped with a rival and was off a bit slow, settled behind horses, moved to the outside late on the backstretch, was roused in the five path on the turn, turned into upper stretch under a drive, remained on his inside lead until just outside the furlong marker then swapped to the proper lead and lacked the needed response while well clear for the show. MAN FROM MALTA was hustled from the gate, pressed the pace on the outside then in the two path on the turn, took the lead outside the five-sixteenths pole, lost the advantage to the winner coming to the quarter-pole and tired. WIND DANCER was urged along off the pace, saved ground on the turn, moved out in upper stretch and failed to respond. UNITY DREAMS broke in the air and was off slow, spotted the front a few lengths, was urged along towards the back, traveled around the turn in the three path and failed to threaten. DEAD AIM was hustled to the front, set the pace under pressure to his outside, vied along the rail under urging on the turn, lost the advantage outside the five-sixteenths pole, dropped back into the stretch and faded. BRENCHLEY bumped with a rival at the start and was off a bit slow, was urged along towards the rear, went around most of the turn in the two path then shifted to the three path and was no factor. BLUE PILL was off slow and spotted the front a few lengths, angled in while ridden along at the rear, saved ground on the turn and showed little.
