ON A SUMMER DAY established a forward position early, dropped from the three path to the two path early on the first turn, followed the clear leader down the backstretch, ranged up while moving from the rail to the two path on the far turn, was asked near the quarter-pole then chased under a drive in upper stretch, gained to make a bid at the sixteenth-pole but was outfinished late and missed the trifecta. THE GAEL dropped in before the first turn, saved ground on that bend, settled at the rear, came under urging with a half-mile to run, rounded most of the far turn in the two path then shifted to the three path, spun into the stretch in the four path while under the crop and was no factor.
