Footnotes
PAPA GOLF was hustled to the front, dropped to the inside nearing the first turn, was well rated while showing the way, came under some urging on the far turn, was asked for his best in upper stretch, dueled gamely inside of the runner-up to the finish and narrowly prevailed under strong urging. BLAST FURNACE was taken in hand early, moved from the rail to the two path early on the first turn, was well placed just off the pace, shifted from the rail to the two path on the far turn, was asked near the quarter-pole then gained in the three path into the stretch, made an outside bid at the three-sixteenths pole, dueled determinedly outside of the winner to the finish and was denied while clear for the place. HEDGE THE RISK checked in tight quarters between horses in the three path early on the first turn then dropped to the rail, settled towards the back, saved ground on the far turn, was roused outside the quarter-pole, moved to the two path under a drive in upper stretch and lacked the needed kick while clear for the show. COMMANDER OF TRUTH was caught in the four path on the first turn, settled outside without cover, was asked in the four path on the far turn, bumped with a rival and moved to the five path briefly near the five-sixteenths pole before dropping back to the four path, spun into upper stretch in the five path and lacked the needed kick. RETEKO came out into the first turn, raced in the two then three path while putting a foe in tight quarters on that bend, was rated on the inside of a rival, started the far turn in the two path, shifted to the three path and bumped a foe at the five-sixteenths pole, chased in the four path into upper stretch, dropped back into the final furlong and weakened. LAIRD OF MAGNOLIA moved in towards the back, rounded the first turn in the two path, was reserved behind horses while on the outside, tugged on the bit under tight restraint passing the nine-sixteenths pole, came out from behind cover near the half-mile pole, was roused in the three then two path on the final turn and failed to respond. WEEKENDSANDWHISKEY raced inside to the two path on the turns and failed to threaten. GO LONG established a forward position early, moved from the three path to the four path early on the first turn, stalked the pace on the outside, dropped back a bit in the three path early on the far turn, was bumped between foes while tiring near the five-sixteenths pole then checked, moved to the five path shortly thereafter, came further out into upper stretch and was eased but walked off.
