Footnotes
JUDGE DAVIS dropped to the inside on the first turn, was well placed just off the pace, raced inside for most of the far turn then moved to the two path, shifted to the four path while roused into upper stretch, chased into the final furlong, gained to make a bid coming to the sixteenth-pole and got under strong handling to prevail. DEAR DAD went to the front, showed the way in the two path with a clear advantage, was asked near the quarter-pole then came under a drive in upper stretch, lost the advantage outside the eighth-pole, fought on gamely in the final furlong but missed while just able to get the place. FINAL VERDICT tracked the pace on the outside in the three path, made a bid near the quarter-pole, was put to a drive in upper stretch, gained a short lead outside the furlong marker, led into the final sixteenth but was caught and just missed the place while able to get the show. MAGICAL WAYS settled on the inside, was roused nearing the quarter-pole and improved to just get the last spot in the superfecta. RETOUCH (FR) saved ground while reserved off the pace, was roused near the quarter-pole and finished willingly to just miss the superfecta. GENERAL JIM was hustled from the gate, raced in the two path while reserved off the pace, came under urging outside the quarter-pole, swung out to the six path into upper stretch and lacked the needed response. VICTORY WAY dropped from the four to the three path early on the first turn, settled on the outside, was roused in the two path on the far turn and failed to threaten. RUSE angled in early, settled in the two path, was roused outside the quarter-pole and failed to rally. HIGHESTDISTINCTION settled on the inside, moved to the two path outside the quarter-pole, turned into the stretch in the four path then moved further out and also failed to rally. EXACT ESTIMATE was taken up in tight quarters after the start, became rank nearing the first turn, continued rank in the three to four path on that bend, was reserved on the outside without cover, traveled around the far turn in the three path while asked, turned into upper stretch in the five path and came up empty. KUCHAR was taken up in tight quarters after the start, settled in the three path, was roused on the far turn, spun into the stretch in the five path and failed to respond.
