Footnotes
CHARLES J bumped with a rival at the start, settled in the two to three path, was roused on the far turn, came five wide into the stretch, rallied on the outside, closed fast to get the lead inside the furlong marker then drew clear under steady urging. VITALIZE established a forward position early, raced in the three path on the first turn, was rated just off the pace, chased in the three path on the far turn, bumped with a foe while making a bid at the quarter-pole, chased the leader into the final furlong and finished with good courage for the place. NEW YORK SCRAPPY was taken up into the first turn, raced in the four path on that bend, settled on the outside, was asked in the four path on the far turn and finished willingly to just miss the place while narrowly able to get the show. FERRIS MULER broke out at the start, moved in while going to the front, dropped from the three path to the two path early on the first turn, showed the way down the backstretch, vied inside on the far turn, shook off foes while set down in upper stretch, led past the furlong marker then was overtaken by the winner, kept on to the finish but missed the trifecta. PATRONAGE was last into stride, went four wide on the first turn, settled near the back, was urged in the two then three path on the far turn, came six wide into upper stretch, moved in and bumped with a foe late and improved to just miss the superfecta. DAYBRIGHT DELIGHTS raced in the three path on the first turn, settled towards the rear, saved ground on the turn, moved out in the stretch, bumped with a rival late and failed to threaten. SEBASTIANTHE FIRST was rated on the inside, saved ground through the far turn, was asked near the quarter-pole then put to a drive in upper stretch and lacked the needed kick. BIG RICH went two to three wide on the turns and lacked the needed response. MAGIC BEACH broke out then was hustled before being taken in hand, saved ground on the first turn, was rated while tracking the pace, chased in the two path on the far turn, bumped with an opponent while making a bid at the quarter-pole and tired. MIDNIGHT LEGEND raced inside to the two path while at the back, came out into the stretch and was no factor.
