SONIC SPEED settled at the back early on after a bit of a tardy start, got over to the rail and steadily advanced down the backstretch, waited for room through the far turn, then found the path blocked turning into the stretch, deftly angled out to the five-path in upper stretch, then surged through the final furlong to be along in time. TOUCH OF ZEN was allowed to settle near the back early, took up sharply in traffic going into the far turn, then swung to the outside and launched a five-wide rally down the stretch, finished up well despite flopping leads, but could not get to the winner. WODETON (FR) pulled to be three-wide just off the early leaders going through the first turn, tracked a few lengths back down the backstretch, then launched a bid midway on the far turn, pulled even with the leaders in upper stretch, finished well but was outkicked late by the top pair. AFJAN stalked the early pace from the rail, waited for room through the far turn, tried to split horses in upper stretch, lost the path, then angled to the rail, finished up well up the rail but was not quite good enough. CAUGHT OFF GUARD showed good early speed, pressed two-wide to the far turn, ramped up the pressure leaving the quarter pole, put a head in front briefly at the head of the stretch, fought on gamely in the stretch battle but was outfinished in the late stages. FOUND JORDAN was throttled back by the rider after the start, then became rank turning on to the main course, settled down and was last through the first turn, then advanced going into the last turn, made a wide sweeping move through the far turn, was in contention turning for home four wide, but was outfinished. PAPA RIZZO showed good speed from the break, made the rail and the lead with the rider trying to temper the pace, led the way into the far turn, before giving way mid-stretch. LORING PARK was held up while racing two to three-wide through the early stages, got over to the rail for the run through the far turn but lacked a response.
