Footnotes
SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS broke a beat slow, settled off of the pace hung three wide, took the far turn in the four path before fanning to the eight path entering upper stretch, rallied widest to bid outside of the leaders at the sixteenth pole and drove past. MERCANTE vied two wide and between horses before ceding the front to an outer counterpart into the first turn, stalked outside of that one down the backstretch, re-engaged and vied around the far turn, dueled moving to the three to four path in upper stretch, gamely clung to an advantage among foes into midstretch, but was outkicked by an outer rival in the final sixteenth and held place. HIGHWAY ROBBER was off half a beat slow, saved ground off of the pace, ranged up in the two path to bid inside of the leaders in midstretch, but got outkicked and missed place. GOLD PHOENIX (IRE) trailed along the inside, sustained gradual rail progress to vie for minor placings leaving midstretch, but leveled off late. RUNNING BEE laid off of the pace two wide and between horses, then from the three path around the far turn, chased in the six path in upper stretch, tipped out to the nine path in the final furlong and offered a belated kick to miss fourth. REDISTRICTING (GB) prompted along the inside before backing off to track entering the first turn, tipped to take aim outside of the top pair and from the four to five path entering upper stretch, bid and dueled into the final furlong, but got outkicked between bidders and flattened out. INTEGRATION pursued from midpack along the inside before seizing a gap to track two wide and between horses leaving the first turn, chased in the four to five path in upper start, pursued behind foes into the final furlong, brushed with an outer rival while encountering traffic in the final furlong and ran on mildly. CAMEO PERFORMANCE settled off of the pace in the four to three path around the first turn, inched closer four wide around the far turn before floating to the seven path into upper stretch, but lacked the needed punch to offer a bid in upper stretch, got outkicked in the final furlong and yielded. GIGANTE vied three deep before clearing off entering the first turn, showed the way before vying with an outer rival around the far turn, dueled in the two to three path in upper stretch and faded between horses passing midstretch. TAKING CANDY prompted among the leaders before checking back entering the first turn, tracked three wide, pursued within striking range turning for home, but got floated to the five to six path entering upper stretch, kept on between rivals into midstretch, but brushed with an inner rival and weakened with a sixteenth to go.
